Reaching out is the hardest part. Here’s exactly what happens after you do — no surprises, no pressure.
A short phone or video call with the clinician you chose (or the one we matched you with). They’ll ask what’s bringing you in, answer your questions, and you’ll both get a feel for whether it’s a fit. No commitment — if it’s not right, we’ll point you to someone who is.
Before your first session you’ll get a secure link to our client portal for intake forms, consent, and insurance or payment details. Ten to fifteen minutes, all online, done once.
Mostly, your therapist listens. You’ll talk through what brought you in, what you’d like to be different, and enough background to get started. There’s nothing to prepare and no wrong way to do it. Sessions run about 53–60 minutes.
Together you’ll set a rhythm — weekly is common at first — and goals you actually care about. Some people come for a season, some longer. You’ll revisit how it’s going as you go, and you can change course (or clinicians) anytime.
Meet at our Byron Center office or by secure video anywhere in Michigan. Many clients mix both. Wherever you meet, it’s confidential — except where safety is a concern or disclosure is required by law.
A free consult first, always. After that, most major commercial insurance plans are accepted, and self-pay rates are public — you’ll know what it costs before you ever book.
