Do You or Your Child Struggle with Focus, Organization, or Impulsivity?
At Riverside Counseling Professionals, we provide comprehensive ADHD evaluations for children, teens, and adults. Whether you’re seeking a diagnosis for school accommodations, treatment planning, or peace of mind, we’re here to guide you through the process with expertise and compassion.
What is ADHD?
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects focus, attention, impulse control, and executive functioning. It presents differently in children and adults, and even varies from person to person.
Common signs include:
Difficulty staying focused or following through on tasks
Forgetfulness and disorganization
Impulsivity or restlessness
Struggles with time management or emotional regulation
If these challenges are interfering with your daily life or your child’s success at school, an evaluation can be a powerful first step.
Our ADHD Testing Process
We know that navigating assessments can feel overwhelming—especially when clinical terms are involved. That’s why our two-session approach is designed to be both efficient and comprehensive, ensuring you—or your child—receive thoughtful evaluation without unnecessary complexity.
Session One: Clinical Interview & TOVA
We start with a diagnostic clinical interview to learn about developmental, emotional, cognitive, medical, and relational history. This helps us get a holistic picture of what’s going on.
Right after the interview, we administer the TOVA (Test of Variables of Attention), a computerized tool that gauges sustained attention and response control.
For Children/Adolescents: While the child completes the TOVA, parents fill out the SDQ (Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire) and the CATS (Child and Adolescent Trauma Screen).
Estimated Time: 90-120 minutes
-
Between sessions, we send select assessments via email for clients to complete at home. The assessments vary depending on client age.
Adults
Brown EF/A Scales (Executive Function)
Estimated Time: 10–15 minutes
MMPI-3 (Personality Assessment)
Estimated Time: 25–50 minutes
Children & Adolescents
Conners 4 (ADHD-Related Behaviors)
Full: 12–15 minutes
Short: 5–7 minutes
ADHD Index: 1–1.5 minutes
Additional Testing (When Needed)
If broader concerns need to be explored (learning or developmental issues), additional assessments may be offered:
WIAT-4 – Academic achievement test
WISC-V – Cognitive assessment for children
WAIS-IV – Cognitive assessment for adults
(These are provided separately when needed.)
Session Two: Feedback & Recommendations
In the second session, we meet to go over the results. Clients receive:
A clear explanation of the findings and whether ADHD is present
Individualized recommendations for next steps, such as therapy strategies, school or workplace accommodations, or other helpful resources
A full written report summarizing results and recommendations
Estimated Time: 60 minutes
Note: For children 12 and under, a parent or guardian must remain on-site during all sessions. Parents are welcome in the session.
